Some 50 winners were the latest to be picked for prizes including latest BlackBerry models and broadband Internet modems, which were on offer as part of its eQtel and Self Service Machine (SSM) promotion.

In all, some 250 people have received prizes in the competition, which was aimed at rewarding customers switching over to the popular eQtel or Self Service Machine (SSM) channels to pay bills or update their credit.
The promotion, which was launched in September 2010, was conceived as a way to educate people about the extra convenience and environmental benefits of these advanced channels.
Qtel executives said the efforts have been a “huge success”, with a significant increase in the number of people using both eQtel and SSM.
Qtel is confident that the trend will continue, particularly because many of the winners have said that they preferred using eQtel and SSMs and would like to tell their friends about their advantages.
Qtel received the “Green Retailer Award” in the Qatar Today Green Awards 2010, and the company is working hard to encourage more people to use these channels because of the environmental benefits.
Both SSM and eQtel help to reduce the amount of paper-based transactions customers need to be involved in, and so help save resources in Qatar.
To register for eQtel services, customers can simply send an SMS to 92626 or call 111/114 to get a special Qtel PIN, and then complete the registration process on the eQtel webpage.
Customers can also register directly on the eQtel webpage.
The service enables customers to check their monthly bills, make payments online and apply for a wide range of new services.
The eQtel service can be accessed via www.qtel.qa.
Qtel’s network of Self Service Machines (SSM) are available round-the-clock across the country.
