Eideh’s award winning shot
Qatar-based photographer, Shadi Eideh, has been declared the winner of ‘Best Photo in Qatar’ in Canon Middle East’s regional ‘Dynamic World’ photography and video competition.
The competition, which was organised as part of Canon’s continuous commitment to recognise grassroot photographic talent, witnessed over 1,000 entries from 13 participating countries.
The first and second prize winners in the video category, which allowed videographers to submit a video that showcased the dynamic elements of their city, were awarded to the UAE residents Noushad Pallikkal and Lewis de Mesa for their videos ‘Dubai Creek’ and ‘Emirates Winter’. The third prize went to Kuwait resident Said Hussein for his video ‘Kuwait in Motion’.
“The quality of imagery submitted from Qatar was very high and demonstrated the entrants’ visual capturing skills, with many of the entries managing to capture the dynamic spirit of their city in a split second shot which certainly tells a different and unique story,” Hendrik Verbrugghe, marketing director for Canon Middle East and North Africa, said.
Recording full HD videos on DSLR cameras have created new possibilities for photographers to capture and share their stories and stay relevant in a rapidly changing digital landscape, according to him.
