“Today I started from the last part of the grid and made a good start. The first few laps I was fighting with other riders with slower lap times than mines, but after a few corners I was able to pass some of them,” al-Malki said.
“Then I raced alone for a while and later a Kalex team rider and I fought for two or three laps. Finally he passed me but I am very happy with this race because I finished in the points.
“I hope in next race I’ll be able to fight harder in the qualifying and get a better grid position so I can fight with the best riders and finish even in a better position.
“I want to thank all the team, mechanics, the rest of the staff and Anthony West for the great job done with the bikes over the weekend”.
Al-Sulaiti, who was 18th, said he had to fight hard because of leaking fuel.
“The fuel came on to my face, but these things happen at the races and the good thing was that I overcame the problem and was able to finish 18th,” he said.
“ I think I could have been 4 or 5 positions ahead and in the future I’ll push harder so I can finish in the points"
Moto2 rider West, who was there to boost the morale of the duo, was pleased with their performances.
“I’m happy because both riders did a really good job,” he said.
“Nasser rode really well, much more aggressively at the race. His lap times are good enough to be in the top ten. I think he could be within the second fastest group, from 6th to 10th place. The thing that I think we can work on and improve is in getting him pushing hard all over the weekend just like he did today at the race so he gets a better grid positions and is able to fight in the top ten riders at the race,” added West.
“Anyway I’m very happy because he got some points which was our first goal, and he did quite easily. With Saeed I’m really impressed with his qualifying and his work all over the weekend.
The difference in his riding style from last race to now is huge. The problem with the bike slowed him a bit but the first 5 laps he made really good times and I saw him fight hard against other riders. He still needs to fix some small mistakes but it’s expected because for him is all new, it’s been just his second race on a moto2 bike.
“He just needs race experience; every guy here is pushing 100% all the time just like in the world championship; he made a really good job and he is going in the right direction”
