The Homeboys have won the inaugural Doha Jam street basketball tournament defeating the Sharks 11-7 in the final at the Aspire Zone Outdoor Courts.

Designed to allow Qatar’s best street basketball players to showcase their incredible skills through a 16-team, three-on-three tournament, Doha Jam attracted a large number of spectators on each of the two days of competition.Speaking at the conclusion of the event, Aspire Logistics director General Abdulaziz al-Mahmoud said, “Doha Jam was a great success. We saw some fantastic skills, great competition, plenty of families watching and matches were played with great sportsmanship.”
The Homeboys, who overcame the Stars 11-3 in the semi-final, were led by Ronnie Cajayon who showed amazing long-range shooting skills.
After receiving the first place prize of an iPad, Cajayon said, “We were the first team to register. The Doha Jam tournament is a fantastic opportunity not only for us, but for basketball in Doha in general. I can’t wait for the next event!”
All matches were streamed live on the Internet thanks to the Aspire Zone Foundation’s IT department, with hundreds of viewers from Qatar and overseas tuning in to watch the action.
Veljko Kecmon, a Serbian who played with the second-placed Sharks said, “We signed up because we just wanted to have fun. The teams here all play on different courts in Doha, but the players all know each other, we’re all friends, so it’s just great to get everyone together.”
Third place went to Q Sports Heat who defeated the Stars 11-9 in the third/fourth playoff. They won vouchers for a buffet lunch at the Flying Carpet restaurant at the Torch Doha Hotel.
