Action from the Al Rayyan-Al Ahli match in the Heir Apparent Cup yesterday
El Jaish put on an unrelenting trapping defence on Temie Soyebo and company and registered a lopsided 85-49 victory over Qatar Sports Club last night in the Heir Apparent Cup at the Al Gharafa Indoor Arena.
So effective was their defence that El Jaish forced their counterparts into an unenviable record of 30 turnovers, paving the way for Aleoni Se and Baker Ahmad Mohamed to have a field day on the offensive end. Se led El Jaish with 20 points and Baker contributed 16.
El Jaish, finishing with a 2 win 1 loss card in Group 1, assured themselves of a semifinals berth and will face the top team in Group 2 on Wednesday.
In the second game, Al Rayyan met a hardfighting Al Ahli but proved more determined in the end prevailing 75-68 to emerge on top of Group 1 and clinch the second semifinal slot for the group.
Chauncey Leslie top-scored for the winning team with big 19 points.
