Action from the Al Arabi-Al Wakrah match in the HH Heir Apparent Cup yesterday
Jalloh Abdullah and Alvin Mofunaya combined for 41 points and 28 rebounds to lift Al Arabi past Al Wakrah, 71-58, on the fourth day of the HH Heir Apparent Cup yesterday.
Trailing 17-20 after the opening period, Al Arabi blazed to a 10-0 run at the onset of the second quarter, scattering a total of 26 points while limiting Al Wakrah’s output to merely 6, to lead 43-26 after 20 minutes of play.
Al Wakrah tried to fight back in the second half of play behind imports Darren Kelly and Elliah Clark, but fell short in their efforts as Al Arabi managed to keep them at bay, 57-45 at the end of third period until the final buzzer.Jalloh, who was all over the place all game long had 27 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists. Mofunanya contributed 14 points and hauled down 13 rebounds.
Al Arabi now have a 1 win-1 loss record while Al Wakrah absorbed their second loss.
