Matt Kemp...highest paid player in LA Dodgers history

Matt Kemp became the highest-paid player in Los Angeles Dodgers history on Friday, signing an eight-year deal worth $160 million to remain with the Major League Baseball club.
The 27-year-old American centerfielder led the National League with 39 home runs and 126 runs batted in and was third in the league with 40 stolen bases and a .324 batting average.
“This is very special for me,” Kemp said. “It’s a joy to be known as a Dodger.”
Kemp’s contract, the largest in National League history and seventh-highest in major league history, pays him a $2mn bonus next April and a $10mn salary for 2012 with $2mn deferred until 2013.
Kemp will have a $20mn salary in 2013, he will make $21mn in 2014 and 2015, and then rake in $21.5mn over each of the last four seasons in the deal.
The only larger deals have come to Alex Rodriguez at $275mn and $252mn, Derek Jeter at $189mn, Joe Mauer at $184mn, Mark Teixeira at $180mn and C.C. Sabathia at $161mn.
Frank McCourt, who has agreed to sell the Dodgers by April 30 in a deal to pay off a settlement after a contentious divorce, watched as Kemp inked the record deal.
