After last week’s hugely successful Texas Scramble Season Opener, Mesaieed Golf Club’s season got into full swing on Friday, with the first sponsored competition of the season, the Al Waha Trophy. Al Waha and their MD, Khalid al-Masri, have had a long relationship with Mesaieed Golf Club, dating back several years, and yet again they have shown great support of this historical golf club. On what turned out to be a quite humid and sticky day, the event was very well attended, with all the golfers showing great resolve to post some very competitive scores.
Despite the close nature of the result, there was a clear winner, and it was quite fitting that the winner should be the newly appointed Lady Captain, Ronelle Du Toit. Scoring a total of 38 points, she was one ahead of second placed Richard de la Bastide, 37 points, and three points ahead of third, the winner of a four-way countback - Mr Alfons Vinent, 35 points.
