Zohair Moghsen trained Qadir continued his winning ways with yet another brilliant performance in the local Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 40 and above at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club yesterday. The Hussain Ali Bukanan owned six-year-old bay gelding who has been unbeaten since last season, has turned to be a virtual money spinner for his proud owner.
In a three horse finish, Qadir and and its regular saddle partner Gerald Avranche staved off the threat from Battal and Nawaf Al Naif to win by a neck. Qadir has displayed amazing consistency and his trainer feels that he is capable of repeating this performance when saddled next. “Qadir is simple amazing. He has never failed since last season. It is a great feeling to see his winning performance again and again. Jockey Avranche also did well today,” trainer Moghsen told the Gulf Times.
George Mikhalides saddled Choose Wisely waged a stiff battle with Hunting Tartan (Avranche up) before prevailing by a neck in the Thoroughbred Stakes. Jockey Bouland rode a brilliant race on the winner.
Trainer Mikhalides had another winner for the day when Al Mujahez (Yousef al-Hajri astride) came good in the local bred Pure Arabian Plate which was open to Qatari jockey s  only. The fancied duo of Aaber and Insaf took the second and third place respectively.
In the day’s other action, Ibrahim al-Malki schooled  Dhaferat Al Naif (Alan Munro astride) recored a narrow win over Al Monahidh in the local bred Pure Arabian Maiden Plate.
Trainer Jassim al-Ghazali added another winner to his tally with the success of Ladyanne in the Thoroughbred Handicap. Under the able riding of Yanis Aouabed, Auoabed, the Ghazali sped away from the rest to win quite comfortably.
Umm Qarn Farm’s duo of Shaddad (David Bouland up) and Kalim Du Loup (Avranche astride) took the first two places ahead of Shahania Stud’s Maseh and Harran in the Pure Arabian Handicap for horses rated 60 to 90.
