LNG carrier Fuwairit, which delivered the first RasGas LNG cargo under the new long-term sale and purchase agreement with CPC Corporation, Taiwan

RasGas has delivered the first LNG cargo under the new long-term sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with CPC Corporation, Taiwan.
The delivery was made recently using LNG carrier “Fuwairit” at CPC Corporation’s Yung-An receiving terminal in Taiwan.
The SPA was concluded between RasGas and CPC Corporation in Doha on the sidelines of the World Petroleum Congress last month.
Under the terms of the agreement, Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Company (3) – RL 3 - will deliver 1.5mn tonnes per year (tpy) of LNG for 20 years starting in 2013. RasGas will also deliver incremental volumes from 2012 to 2016.
RasGas managing director Hamad Rashid al-Mohannadi said, “The delivery of this first cargo under the recently executed long-term LNG sale and purchase agreement with CPC Corporation marks a new milestone in our existing and strong relationship with them, one in which we see a great future ahead.”
RasGas marketing and shipping executive Khalid Sultan al-Kuwari said, “Our new agreement with CPC shows our commitment to the industry and our long-term liquefied natural gas customers in meeting their growing LNG and energy demand, and this delivery of our first cargo promptly following the execution of the agreement with CPC is a further testimony to Qatar and RasGas as being a safe and a reliable global LNG supplier.”
CPC chairman Chu said, ““This cargo which was discharged on 5th of January not only stands for the continuity of mutual trust and co-operation between RasGas and CPC, but also proves Qatar’s capabilities and flexibility to meet the increasing market demand.”
RasGas now produces 37mn tonnes of LNG a year from seven trains, all located in Ras Laffan.
RL 3, which will supply LNG to Taiwan, owns Trains 6 and 7, each with a 7.8mn tpy capacity.
