South Korean President Lee Myung-bak arrived in the Philippines yesterday for a three-day state visit that will include summit talks with President Benigno Aquino III about improving bilateral ties and boosting trade, investment and co-operation.
Lee flew from Indonesia where he had attended a series of regional and bilateral summits. During Lee’s visit to Manila, South Korea and the Philippines plan to sign a series of agreements on co-operation projects, such as the establishment of multi-industry clusters and a coal-fired power plant in the Philippines, and provision of economic development co-operation funds and aid to the Southeast Asian nation, South Korea’s (Yonhap) news agency reported.
The trip will also have a meeting with South Korean residents, a forum of leading Philippine businessmen and a town hall-style meeting with local university students. Agencies
