Potjaman Na Pombejra, ex-wife of Thaksin Shinawatra, with her family, son Panthongtae and her daughters Paetongtarn and Pinthongta, arrive at the criminal court in Bangkok.

The court yesterday overturned her 2008 conviction on charges of tax evasion, a decision that comes two weeks after Thaksin’s sister took power as premier. The court said there was insufficient evidence against Potjaman Na Pombejra and her secretary, who along with her brother were found guilty in August 2008 of evading 546mn baht ($18mn) in taxes in a case the billionaire former prime minister has said was politically motivated.
