Family members of detained Sri Lankan migrant worker Premanath Perera weep during a protest outside the Saudi embassy in Colombo yesterday.

The demonstrators demanded the release of Perera who had been jailed in Saudi Arabia for allegedly worshipping an image of Buddha. Activists say the Sri Lankan worker had been convicted recently and want Sri Lankan authorities to secure his release and bring him back to the island.
