Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has unveiled the new logo of Biman Bangladesh Airlines “Palki” for the newly introduced Boeing 777-300ER after arriving at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka from Germany.
Boeing authorities presented her a replica of the Boeing at an event held on Wednesday. The Boeing 777-300ER is the highest- selling variant of the 777 family.
‘Palki’ is a traditional man-pulled carriage in Bangladesh for a bride for transporting her to the wedding ceremony. But such a carriage is now an item being preserved in museum.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Boeing signed an agreement on April 22, 2008 for four 777-300ER and four 787-8 Dreamliner airplanes. Boeing handed over the first aircraft 777-300ER to Biman on October 21.
The 777 is preferred by airlines around the world because of its fuel efficiency, reliability and spacious passenger cabin, officials said.
The 777-300ER is the world’s largest long-range twin-engine jetliner, capable of carrying 365 passengers up to 7,930 nautical miles (14,685km).
