Supporters of Islamic party ‘Jamiat Ulma e Islam’ shout slogans during a protest against reopening of Nato supply route in Karachi yesterday. Pakistan’s cabinet approved on July 4 the reopening of supply routes to Nato troops in Afghanistan after a suspension of more than seven months. The shipments were discontinued in November after 24 Pakistani soldiers were killed by a Nato airstrike in the north-western tribal region along the Afghan border. The decision was made after the US government complied with Islamabad’s demand to apologise for the soldiers deaths.
