HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani visited the Arab World Institute in Paris yesterday. 

The Emir was welcomed by the President of Arab World Institute Jack Lang and several senior officials.

The Emir and the Arab World Institute President reviewed areas of bilateral co-operation, particularly in the scientific, cultural and intellectual areas and ways of enhancing the co-operation, and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

The Emir also paid a visit to ‘Pilgrimage to Makkah’ exhibition, organised by the Arab World Institute in collaboration with the King Abdulaziz Public Library and the British Museum. He was briefed on the expo’s collection of books and rare paintings from different Arab countries, copies of the Holy Qur’an, old photos of pilgrims and historical images of Makkah’s Grand Mosque and the Kaaba and Mount Arafat.

He was also briefed on the manuscripts, maps and travellers’ writing about Haj and its rituals.

The Emir was accompanied during the visit by members of the official delegation.
