The German Industry and Commerce Office in Qatar (AHK Representative Qatar) hosted the ‘From Capital to Opportunity: German Financial Solutions for Global Investment’ on the sidelines of the World Investment Forum 2026.
The event was supported by the German Embassy in Doha, the German Business Council Qatar, and German Mittelstand GCC.
The event brought together representatives of leading German financial institutions, industry experts and businesses to explore how German financial expertise, innovative financing instruments and strategic partnerships can help turn investment opportunities into concrete, bankable projects.
Ilef Ajra, head of the AHK Representative Office in Qatar, highlighted the importance of connecting capital with the right partners, appropriate financing structures and effective risk allocation to support successful project implementation.
German ambassador Oliver Owcza congratulated Qatar on hosting the forum during his opening remarks, underlining the importance of German-Qatari economic cooperation in advancing investment and sustainable growth.
Nilendra Del-Mel, managing director and head of Research Product at Deutsche Bank, explored how artificial intelligence and market intelligence can help investors better understand economic developments, identify opportunities and make informed investment decisions.
Thomas Andrae, founder and managing partner of Linden Capital, followed with an impulse talk on ‘Deep Tech Venture Capital for Cross-Border Growth’, highlighting the role of venture capital in supporting innovative companies, scaling deep-tech businesses and connecting them with international markets.
The panel discussion, moderated by Alexander Mora, founder and managing director of Mora Advisory Partners in Doha, brought together experts from the German Export Credit Agency, Deutsche Bank, Siemens, KfW IPEX-Bank, and Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.
Panellists examined how export credit guarantees, commercial banking solutions, and long-term project financing can help businesses overcome financing barriers and move infrastructure and industrial projects towards implementation.
They also discussed the importance of engaging financing partners early, providing reliable project information, establishing clear revenue streams and ensuring a realistic allocation of project and country risks.
The exchange further highlighted opportunities to combine sustainability with viable business cases, particularly in energy efficiency, energy infrastructure, grids and mobility. The role of institutional capacity, technical expertise and financial-sector advisory services in translating financing opportunities into tangible investments was another key theme.
The event reaffirmed the importance of connecting German financial expertise and industrial capabilities with investment opportunities in Qatar, the wider GCC, and international markets.
It also conveyed the central message that successful investment requires more than access to capital. It depends on identifying viable opportunities, engaging the right partners early, selecting appropriate financing instruments and establishing structures that support effective project delivery.
