The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen said Monday it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group towards the Saudi city of Khamis Mushait, a day after an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed one person and injured 11 others.

Coalition spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al Maliki announced the interception in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), without providing further details.

Earlier on Sunday, an attack on King Khalid International Airport killed a Pakistani national and left 11 people injured, according to Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation.

The injured were taken to hospital for medical treatment, while authorities were assessing the material damage caused by the attack.

The incidents come amid renewed Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, including its civilian aviation infrastructure.
