The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Doha Chapter has conducted three separate professional development initiatives in Qatar, focusing on practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI), global tax policy shifts, and upcoming international financial reporting standards.

The series of specialised educational gatherings brought together finance executives, auditors, and tax specialists to address structural shifts in global financial compliance and emerging corporate technology.

In an event focused on AI, the chapter held the second batch of its three-day Certificate Course on AI for Chartered Accountants (AICA – Level 1). The intensive training covered practical integrations of AI, machine learning, and generative AI across accounting, auditing, taxation, and business decision-making.

The course was organised under the guidance of ICAI leadership, including Prasanna Kumar D (president), Mangesh Kinare (vice president), Charanjot Singh Nanda (AI Committee chairman), and Umesh Ramnarayan Sharma (AI Committee vice chairman). Technical sessions were delivered by faculty members Bhavin Goklani, Shashank Sahoo, and Ramandeep Singh.

Separately, the chapter convened a dedicated technical session titled ‘Navigating the New Tax Landscape: Pillar Two & E-Invoicing’ to address major tax compliance developments in Qatar.

During this session, Kreston SVP Tax and Advisory partner Balakrishnan Karyot spoke on ‘Pillar 2 in Qatar – Practical Implications’, detailing key aspects of OECD Global Minimum Tax rules for local corporate entities. Focus Softnet Qatar regional manager Juzer Madraswala presented on the ‘Role of Technology in Ensuring E-Invoice Compliance’, outlining software adaptations required for digital invoicing systems.

In a third separate event, the chapter hosted ‘Reimagining Financial Reporting – Digital Documentation, Governance & IFRS 18’.

KPMG Qatar Audit director Yusuf Sayed provided an overview of presentation and disclosure requirements under the new IFRS 18 standard. Cube Innovators Technologies Global director Seby Cyriac addressed digital documentation workflows from source data to final disclosure.

Addressing members across these events, Somanath highlighted key calendar dates, including the ‘12th ICAI Doha Chapter Annual Conference’ on October 22 and 23, 2026, at the Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel. He also urged participation in the upcoming World Forum of Accountants (WOFA), taking place in Visakhapatnam from December 16 to 18 2026.

Concluding the sessions, ICAI Doha Chapter vice chairperson Dewaki Nandan Tibrewal reiterated the chapter's commitment to delivering continuous learning and practical insights into changing regulatory environments.
