HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali held an official session of talks at the Amiri Diwan yesterday morning.
At the outset of the session, HH the Amir welcomed the president and his accompanying delegation, wishing relations between the two countries further development and growth. He expressed hope that the visit would help expand the horizons of joint co-operation in a manner serving the interests of both countries.
The Guyanese president thanked HH the Amir for the warm reception and hospitality, affirming his country’s keenness to strengthen co-operative relations and advance them towards further development and growth.
During the session, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen and develop them, particularly in the investment sector. They also discussed a number of issues of common interest.
HH the Amir and the Guyanese president also held a bilateral meeting during which they exchanged views on prominent current issues and developments.
The session was attended by HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Khulaifi; HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi; HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi; and a number of Their Excellencies ministers and senior officials.
On the Guyanese side, the session was attended by Presidential Assistant and Personal Representative of the President and Minister Responsible for Southern Europe, the Middle East and Africa George Andrew Hallaq; Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Hugh Todd; Director of Presidential Affairs at the Office of the President Marcia Nadir-Sharma; and members of the official delegation.
HH the Amir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of the Guyanese president and his accompanying delegation.
Earlier yesterday, the president arrived at the Amiri Diwan, where an official reception ceremony was held for him.
