Qatar and seven other countries have strongly condemned statements by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Defence Minister Israel Katz advocating the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt and Türkiye said proposals for plans and mechanisms to forcibly remove Palestinians from their land flagrantly violated international law, including international humanitarian law, and directly threatened the Palestinian people’s legitimate and inalienable rights.
The ministers unequivocally rejected any attempt to displace Palestinians within or outside the Occupied Palestinian Territory, regardless of the pretext, warning of grave consequences if calls for forced displacement were turned into declared policy or concrete measures.
They said such action would directly challenge international peace efforts, particularly US President Donald Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, which unequivocally rejects forced displacement, and risk undermining regional stability.
The ministers stressed that the Gaza Strip was an integral part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and called for the unity of Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, to be preserved.
They reaffirmed that the only path to a just and lasting peace was the implementation of the two-state solution, establishing an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.
The ministers urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to fulfil its responsibilities, firmly oppose attempts to impose a new demographic or geographical reality in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and ensure respect for international law.
They also reiterated their full support for the Palestinian people’s steadfastness on their land and rejected all attempts to erase the Palestinian cause or undermine their legitimate rights. (QNA)
The Ministers also call upon the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to shoulder its responsibilities and firmly confront any attempts to impose a new demographic or geographic reality in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and to ensure respect for the rules of international law.
They reaffirm their continued full support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land and their rejection of all attempts aimed at erasing the Palestinian cause or undermining the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
