US envoy Steve Witkoff said both Russia and Ukraine need to make "compromises" to end more than four years of war after holding talks with both Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky and Russia's Vladimir Putin.
"It's going to take both sides to make some compromises and narrow the issues between them and we think we have the ingredients to get to that place," Witkoff said after talks with Zelensky on his first Kyiv trip.
"It is very difficult but we are committed, we care and we hope all of that leads to a successful peaceful diplomatic resolution."
