Qatar participated in the 166th session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives, which convened at the League's General Secretariat in Cairo yesterday.
This convention is a prelude to holding the ministerial-level session tomorrow.
Qatar’s ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed al-Thani led Qatar's delegation to the meeting.
The agenda comprised a range of political and socioeconomic matters, including the Palestinian cause, the Arab-Israeli conflict, developments and Israeli violations in occupied Jerusalem, support for Palestine's budget and the resilience of the Palestinian people, as well as condemnation of Iran's unlawful attacks against Arab nations and reaffirmation of Iran's obligations under international law.
The agenda further included other topics relevant to backing the sovereignty of Yemen, condemning Iranian violations of Yemen's sovereignty and the integrity of its airspace, the security of navigation and energy supplies in the Arabian Gulf region, in addition to the evolving situations in Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia and the Comoros.
In addition, the session addressed the two reports of the League's secretary-general on the activities of the General Secretariat and procedures for executing the decisions of the League Council between the two previous ordinary sessions (164 and 165), as well as the draft agenda of the Council at the summit level for its 35th ordinary session.
