Qatar Chamber board member Mohamed bin Ahmed al-Obaidli has emphasised the vital partnership between Arab nations and Brazil, noting that while Brazil is a global leader in agricultural and food products, Qatar is a leader in energy and fertiliser production.
He made the statement during a session held on the sidelines of the ‘Arab-Brazilian Economic Forum’ in Sao Paulo, Brazil, which convened government officials, private sector representatives, and prominent business leaders from across Arab nations and Brazil to explore new avenues for economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
Also attending the forum were Ahmed Mohamed Ali Mohamed al-Shaibani, ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Federative Republic of Brazil, and Almuhannad Ali al-Hammadi, consul general of Qatar in Sao Paulo.
The session on ‘Food Security, Agribusiness and Resilience of Fertiliser Supplies’ addressed key challenges and opportunities across agricultural supply chains and global food security.
Al-Obaidli, who is also chairperson of the chamber’s Food Security and Environment Committee and the Technology and Innovation Committee, highlighted this strategic synergy as a solid foundation for long-term investments and cooperation.
He affirmed that Qatar’s state-of-the-art transportation, storage, and distribution network positions the nation as a reliable global logistics hub.
He highlighted Qatar’s success in strengthening food security, noting significant strides in boosting local production, diversifying import sources, and building robust strategic reserves. He also underscored the expansion of foreign investments aimed at scaling national food security projects.
Al-Obaidli stressed the importance of leveraging technology and artificial intelligence to develop agriculture and enhance productivity. He also explained that these capabilities open broad avenues for Qatari-Brazilian private sector collaboration across key sectors, including food production, fertilisers, processing, cold-chain logistics, and agtech solutions.
