Turkiye's economy is expected to have grown by 2.9% in the second quarter and is forecast to expand by 3.05% in 2026, a Reuters poll showed on Friday.
The emerging market economy expanded 2.5% in the first quarter, just below forecasts, with growth slowing for a third consecutive quarter.
The estimates of 10 economists in the Reuters poll ranged from 1.9% to 3% for the second quarter, with a median of 2.9% expansion in gross domestic product.
Turkiye's economy grew by 3.6% in 2025. The government's medium-term programme, which was last updated in September of last year, projects growth of 3.8% in 2026. A new medium-term programme will be announced on September 7.
Turkish lira overnight interest rates dropped to 37% from 40% on Monday, as the central bank resumed auctions that were suspended in March to control the inflationary impact of the Iran war.
Annual inflation eased to 31.75% in July. The central bank raised its year-end inflation forecast by 2 percentage points to 28% in its third inflation report of the year.
The central bank's monthly survey of business leaders' and economists' expectations forecast end-2026 GDP growth of 3.1% and end-2026 CPI of 29.43%.
The Turkish Statistical Institute is expected to release the official second-quarter GDP data on August 31.
