HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani and Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi, yesterday spoke by phone to discuss deepening and expanding co-operation between the two countries.
They also exchanged views on the latest regional developments, particularly the ongoing discussions between the Sultanate of Oman and Iran on a phased framework that includes establishing a temporary shared navigation route through the Strait of Hormuz and agreeing on a joint project to demine the Strait.
The prime minister expressed Qatar's gratitude for the efforts of the brotherly Sultanate of Oman and its full support for its diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and at reinforcing regional stability.
The prime minister and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also held a telephone call yesterday. They discussed the latest regional developments, particularly the ongoing talks between Oman and Iran on establishing a temporary joint shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, and on a joint project to clear mines from the Strait.
The prime minister stressed Qatar's full support for diplomatic efforts to find a solution that guarantees the freedom of maritime navigation and paves the way for reaching a comprehensive agreement that achieves sustainable peace in the region.
