Work on the development of Qatar Aeronautical Academy in Ras Abu Abboud is progressing as the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) expands educational and training infrastructure in line with international standards.
The project is designed to develop qualified national talent, support the future growth of the aviation sector and strengthen Qatar’s position as a regional hub for aviation education and specialised training.
Ashghal said yesterday that the project’s main features were taking shape, with design and construction work under way across the academy campus.
The development includes a Flight Operations and Pilot Training Building and an Air Traffic Control Simulation and Airport Operations Management Building. The facilities will provide students and trainees with advanced practical training and simulation systems that meet approved aviation-sector standards.
A hangar is also being constructed for the Aircraft Support Services Unit at Doha International Airport to meet the academy’s training and operational requirements and improve integration among its specialised facilities.
Student accommodation buildings are being upgraded and expanded to increase capacity and improve the quality of residential facilities.
The project also includes an integrated master plan for the campus aimed at making better use of available space and facilitating the movement of students, trainees and staff.

Global Sustainability Assessment System standards are being incorporated through improvements to infrastructure and building systems, greater energy and water efficiency, enhanced indoor environmental quality and
the use of more sustainable materials.
Smart solutions will also be deployed to reduce the development’s environmental impact and improve the facilities’ long-term operational efficiency.
Ashghal said the project formed part of its efforts to provide advanced infrastructure for specialised educational and training institutions and keep pace with the rapid development of critical sectors, including aviation.
