The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC)’s Marine Protection Department spotted four fishing boats during a night inspection patrol and seized prohibited fishing gear found on board.
The confiscated equipment included non-compliant fishing nets, such as nylon nets and other prohibited types.
The seizure was made during routine patrols conducted by the Marine Protection Department to ensure fishermen and other sea users comply with environmental regulations governing fishing activities.
The patrols also aim to curb the use of prohibited equipment and practices that could harm the marine environment and affect fish stocks.
The MoECC affirmed that its monitoring and inspection campaigns, including night patrols, will continue to detect violations and unauthorised practices and take necessary action in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in Qatar.
