Bahrain has strongly condemned the Iranian attack on a vessel belonging to Emirati energy company ADNOC while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as a blatant violation of international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
The Ministry affirmed Manama's full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in all measures it takes to protect its sovereignty, security, stability, and interests.
It also stressed the need for the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities by taking deterrent measures to ensure the safety and freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, compel Iran to halt its attacks on commercial vessels and oil tankers in the strait, and fully and unconditionally reopen the waterway in a manner that safeguards regional security and stability and ensures global energy security and food supplies.
