Rain fell in parts of northern and western Qatar yesterday, with showers reported in areas including Guwairiya and along the Jumailiya-Guwairiya road, as the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) had previously warned that some of the rain could be thundery.
In its post on X yesterday, QMD reported rain in parts of the northern and western areas and advised the public to exercise caution, particularly in areas affected by thunderstorms and strong winds.
Social media posts and videos also showed rainfall in Guwairiya yesterday afternoon and along the Jumailiya-Guwairiya road in northern Qatar. Other posts reported thundery rain and lightning in southwestern parts of the country, while rain was also reported around the Al Atouriya area.
The reports came as QMD forecast a chance of thundery rain in some areas, accompanied by strong winds. Qatar News Agency also published a weather graphic based on the QMD forecast for yesterday, highlighting the possibility of thundery showers and strong winds along the coast.
The rainfall was localised; however, no confirmed reports of rain were found in Doha, Al Khor, or Al Wakra.
