The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC)’s Environmental Monitoring and Inspection Department, in co-operation with the Public Relations and Communication Department, has welcomed students from the Ajyal Educational Centre participating in the summer programme Qinwan.
The educational visit forms part of the ministry’s awareness initiatives, aimed at introducing students to its role in environmental protection and air quality management, while encouraging a greater understanding of sustainable environmental practices.
The programme started with an introductory presentation highlighting the responsibilities of the Environmental Monitoring and Inspection Department, including its role in implementing environmental monitoring programmes, tracking key environmental indicators and overseeing air quality monitoring across the country.
Officials also outlined the ministry’s efforts to safeguard the environment, protect public health and support Qatar’s sustainable development objectives through continuous environmental monitoring.Students later toured the Air Quality Monitoring and Analysis Station at the department’s headquarters in the ministry’s tower, where they were introduced to the station’s operations and the advanced instruments and technologies used to measure air pollutants and monitor air quality.
They also learned how the collected data supports environmental research and informs decision-making aimed at improving environmental quality and enhancing public health.The visit witnessed strong engagement from the participating students, who showed keen interest in learning about environmental monitoring activities and air quality assessment methods.
The programme concluded with an interactive environmental awareness competition covering the key concepts presented during the visit. Students were awarded prizes presented by the ministry in recognition of their participation and to encourage them to develop their environmental knowledge further and adopt positive environmental behaviours.
