Katara Cultural Village is set to welcome one of the Gulf’s anticipated theatrical productions this season as Thikra Artistic Production Company prepares to present the Kuwaiti comedy The Engineer of Public Taste from September 14 at the Drama Theatre.
Produced and sponsored by Thikra, the play blends social comedy with heartfelt storytelling, delivering a family-friendly production that explores everyday life through humour, warmth, and relatable human experiences.
Headlining the production is acclaimed Gulf actor Khaled al-Mudhaffar, joined by an ensemble cast that includes Iman Faisal, Khaled al-Ajirab, Abdullah al-Hammadi, Salman Kayed, and several other prominent theatre performers. The play is both written and directed by Abdulaziz Safar.
Safar said the story centres on a young couple navigating one of life’s most emotional milestones as they eagerly await the birth of their first child. As excitement mingles with uncertainty, the couple encounters a series of humorous misunderstandings and unexpected situations as they prepare for the arrival of their baby.
Amid moments of anxiety, anticipation, and joy, they dream about their child’s future, imagining that one day the youngster will grow up to become a “public taste engineer.”
