Attorney General Orders the Launch of Investigations into the Forgery of Official Documents and Misappropriation of Public Funds
The Public Prosecution commenced investigations into the case following a report submitted by the Ministry of Interior against a female suspect (a Qatari national). Investigations established that she collaborated with other individuals outside the country to facilitate the acquisition by a number of suspects (also Qatari nationals) of forged medical leave certificates falsely attributed to Hamad Medical Corporation, which were subsequently submitted to government entities to obtain leave.
The Public Prosecution's investigations further revealed that the suspect had conspired with other individuals outside the country to provide another group of suspects—including students enrolled in educational institutions and employees of several government entities—with forged medical leave certificates in exchange for financial payments transferred to her bank account. The recipients knowingly used these forged certificates by submitting them to government authorities to unlawfully obtain leave to which they were not entitled.
Investigations by the Public Prosecution remain ongoing to complete the necessary legal procedures in relation to the case. Accordingly, the Public Prosecution urges all entities to verify the authenticity of medical leave certificates submitted to them and to report any forged or invalid certificates so that the necessary legal measures may be taken.
