Qatar announced yesterday that its army had intercepted a number of aerial attacks in the morning, with falling debris injuring a child.
The Ministry of Defence announced that the Qatar Armed Forces intercepted a number of air attacks that targeted the State of Qatar.
A child was injured by falling debris after the interception, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) later reported.
Several explosion-like sounds were heard in Doha as a government security alert was sent to mobile phones.
The MoI confirmed that security authorities and Civil Defence teams have initiated their procedures in accordance with approved response plans following the Iranian attack that targeted the country this morning.
Based on received reports and field findings, the ministry confirmed that one child sustained an injury due to falling shrapnel resulting from interception operations, and is currently receiving the necessary medical care, it added in the statement.
The MoI also emphasised the strict necessity of obtaining information solely from official sources, and refraining from circulating rumours or publishing any unverified information, photos, or video clips, in order to avoid legal accountability.
It added that the security authorities at the ministry are continuing their work with full readiness around the clock, enhancing rapid response, ensuring the preservation of community security and safety, and maintaining the normal flow of services.
Iran has targeted several Gulf countries since hostilities with the United States resumed on July 7, claiming to be aiming at American military installations.
Qatar, a mediator in talks with the US alongside Pakistan and host to the largest American base in the Middle East, was targeted on Sunday for the first time since the April truce.
Iran has stepped up attacks on Gulf countries following US strikes on its territory, targeting military facilities used by US forces in the region.
The latest wave of attacks with missiles and drones also targeted Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan.
The United Arab Emirates and Jordan have condemned in the strongest terms the renewed Iranian attacks.
The UAE ministry of foreign affairs said in a statement yesterday that the UAE stands in full solidarity with Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, and its support for them in all matters that would preserve their security and stability.
Jordan’s foreign ministry said in a statement that the attacks represented a "flagrant breach" of international law and the United Nations Charter.
The Arab Interior Ministers Council also condemned the latest Iranian attacks, with the General Secretariat saying in a statement that the attacks were part of "hostile conduct" that could undermine regional stability and jeopardise international peace and security.
