With hearts heavy with grief, we offer our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani; His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani; his esteemed brothers, His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness Sheikh Thani bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness Sheikh al-Qaqaa bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness Sheikh Mishaal bin Hamad al-Thani, and His Highness Sheikh Fahad bin Hamad al-Thani, and to the ruling family and the noble people of Qatar in this immense loss.
This bereavement belongs to all of us, and it cuts deep, for we have lost the father of us all: our beloved Sheikh Hamad.
He was a father to me, as he was to every Qatari. He lifted the standing of every citizen of this country. He gave us education, and he laboured so that we might live the finest life any human being on this earth could hope to live.
We, the people of Qatar, were blessed in our Father Amir. Today, I and my family, and every soul who calls this good land home, grieve together, for, we have lost a man the like of whom his age rarely produced.
He loved the Arab and Islamic peoples. He stood beside the oppressed wherever they were, and gave his life to their defence. He made Qatar a beacon of development and peace, and planted those values so deep that they became the bedrock of our homeland.
In his wisdom, he was father to us all; he treated us, always, as a father treats his own children.
May Allah shower His mercy upon the Father Amir, grant him the vastness of His paradise, and grant Qatar, its leadership and people, patience and solace.
