His Excellency Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi met Syria's Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani in Damascus Saturday, with the two sides signing a Memorandum of Understanding on co-operation in diplomatic studies and training following their talks.
The MoU was signed on behalf of Qatar by al-Khulaifi and on behalf of Syria by al-Shaibani.
They reviewed co-operation relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them, particularly in the political and economic fields, in addition to a number of issues of common concern.
They also touched on progress made on the chemical weapons file in light of the existing partnership between Qatar and Syria, which supports the implementation of relevant obligations and enhances co-operation with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
During the meeting, al-Khulaifi reiterated Qatar's full support for Syria and its active contribution to all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people for development and prosperity.
