The State of Qatar participated in the proceedings of the 64th meeting of Directors General of Customs in the North Africa, Near East and Middle East region and the proceedings of the 147th and 148th sessions of the Customs Cooperation Council of the World Customs Organization (WCO), which was held at the WCO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
His Excellency Chairman of the General Authority of Customs, Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal, along with a number of the Authority's officials, represented the State of Qatar at the meetings.
The 64th Meeting of Directors General of Customs discussed several agenda items, including the outcomes and work of the Policy Commission, as well as several matters of mutual interest related to the development of customs work at the regional level.
The 147th and 148th sessions of the WCO Customs Cooperation Council reviewed several strategic, technical and financial matters relevant to customs work.
The discussions included the Secretary-General's report on the implementation of the Organization's strategic plan for the period 2025-2026, updates on capacity-building programmes, reports from the technical committees concerned with customs policies and standards, as well as the latest developments in the fields of enforcement, facilitation and modern technologies, in addition to elections relating to regional representation in a number of the Organization's subsidiary bodies.
The State of Qatar's participation, represented by the General Authority of Customs, in these meetings underscores its commitment to strengthening cooperation and coordination with regional and international customs administrations and bodies, keeping abreast of the latest developments and global trends in the customs field, thereby contributing to the development of the customs work system and supporting the objectives of the World Customs Organization.
