The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) celebrated the completion of the Clinical Social Worker Certification Programme, organised by the Social Work Department under the Clinical Operations Directorate, in collaboration with the PHCC’s Workforce Training and Development Directorate at the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), as well as Qatar University (QU)’s Clinical Affairs and Health Sector.
The graduation ceremony was held recently, in the presence of leaders, officials, and representatives of partner organisations.
The event reflected the PHCC’s commitment to developing national talent and enhancing the quality of healthcare services in line with the latest professional standards and the evolving needs of Qatar’s healthcare sector.
During the ceremony, 15 social workers graduated after successfully completing all academic, training, and practical requirements of the programme, which was delivered over a six-month period from December 2025 to May 2026.
The programme aimed to prepare qualified national professionals capable of providing specialised clinical social work services in accordance with the latest professional and scientific standards.
Dr Samya Ahmad al-Abdullah, the assistant managing director of Operations and Clinical Affairs and executive director of operations at the PHCC, emphasised that the programme reflects the corporation’s commitment to investing in specialised national talent, recognising it as the cornerstone of advancing healthcare and social services and enhancing the quality of care provided to the community.
She added that preparing clinical social workers in accordance with the latest professional standards contributes to strengthening the integration of healthcare and social services and supports the PHCC’s efforts to provide comprehensive, person- and family-centred care.
This, Dr al-Abdullah said, aligns with national priorities aimed at building a more efficient and sustainable healthcare system.
Dr Maryam al-Emadi, the director of Clinical Operations, stated that the programme represents a strategic response to the growing need for qualified clinical social workers and serves as a genuine investment in human capital based on the latest professional and scientific standards.
She explained that the programme was developed in collaboration with the QU and with the participation of academics, experts, and specialists from various partner organisations.
The programme, Dr al-Emadi explained, aimed to equip participants with the ability to apply advanced theories and models in understanding human behaviour and social environments, conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments, and utilise evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address complex mental health and psychosocial challenges.
PHCC Social Work Services manager Maryam al-Yaqoub noted that the programme was designed to develop and enhance participants’ advanced clinical skills, particularly in psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, and the implementation of specialised professional interventions.
She added that the programme focused on expanding scientific knowledge related to mental health disorders and evidence-based approaches for managing them, thereby preparing qualified professionals capable of delivering integrated, high-quality services to individuals, families, and groups facing complex psychological and social challenges.
