Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called for making a breakthrough in the negotiations between the United States and Iran, emphasizing that China backs the Pakistan-led mediation, alongside other nations in this respect.
The sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of all countries in the region should be respected, civilian objects should be protected, in addition to safeguarding the security of energy corridors and infrastructure, and enforcing the provisions of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, said Yi while addressing a press conference following his chairing of a session at the United Nations Security Council.Yi clarified that as long as progress is made in the negotiations, it will promote peace, pointing out that ending the conflict as soon as possible would reduce civilian casualties.
In addition, Yi hoped that the relevant parties would commit to pursuing a ceasefire until peace returns to the Middle East at the earliest possible time.He noted that China maintained engagement and coordination with the key relevant parties, along with vital regional and international partners.
