The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has intensified wildlife preservation measures after authorities caught a traditional vessel illegally hunting seagulls in local waters.
The violation was detected by the ministry’s Marine Protection Department during ongoing environmental inspection and monitoring campaigns aimed at safeguarding the country’s marine ecosystem and wildlife habitats.
Specialised teams immediately intervened and safely released the confiscated birds back into their natural environment to preserve ecological balance and ensure the species’ continued survival in its native habitat. Further, the necessary legal proceedings against the violator were initiated in accordance with Qatar’s environmental protection laws and regulations.
Accordingly, officials stressed that such enforcement measures are essential to protecting local biodiversity and curbing harmful practices that threaten wildlife, particularly species considered vulnerable or at risk of extinction.
