Team Qatar athletics Sunday concluded their participation at the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026 with an impressive medal haul that helped Qatar’s overall tally at the Games cross the 100-mark.
Qatar now has 109 medals overall - including 39 gold, 38 silver and 32 bronze medals - to maintain a commanding lead in the standings. Saudi Arabia is placed second with 61 medals (24 gold, 19 silver and 18 bronze), while Bahrain occupies third spot with 54 medals (22 gold, 20 silver and 12 bronze).
The athletics team alone contributed 34 medals, comprising 12 gold, 13 silver and nine bronze medals, underlining the outstanding performances delivered by Qatari athletes throughout the competition.
Team Qatar added nine medals on the final day of athletics competition, including two gold, five silver and two bronze medals, to secure first place in GCC athletics.
Bahrain finished second in athletics with 22 medals, including 11 gold, eight silver and three bronze, while Oman came third with 11 medals, consisting of seven gold, two silver and two bronze.
The men’s 1500m race witnessed a dominant display from Qatari runners, as Mubarak Saeed clinched the gold medal in a highly competitive race. Zakaria al-Alami added a silver medal for Qatar, while Kuwait’s Badr al-Suwaid took bronze.
Qatar also continued their dominance in team events after winning gold in the men’s 4x400m relay through Mohammed Abdulrahman, Mubarak Mousa, Samir Hassan and Bassem Humaida. Meanwhile, Team Qatar bowler Jassim al-0Marikhi secured the bronze medal in the Masters category on the final day of the bowling competitions at the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026. Kuwait’s Faisal Saleem won gold in the event, while compatriot Mustafa al-Mousawi claimed silver.
