The Arab Parliament has condemned the targeting of a commercial cargo ship in Qatar’s territorial waters by a drone, stressing that targeting commercial ships represents a flagrant violation of international law, threatens regional and international security and stability, and strikes at the heart of the global economy.
In a statement issued yesterday, Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed bin Ahmed al-Yamahi affirmed full solidarity with Qatar and the Arab Parliament’s support for all measures that Qatar may take to protect its security and preserve its sovereignty, stressing that Qatar’s national security is an integral part of Arab national security.
He also stressed that any threat to the security of international navigation does not only affect the countries of the region, but extends to the stability of global supply and trade chains, which necessitates a deterrent international stance against these attacks.
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Bahrain, and Jordan also issued similar statements in solidarity with Qatar.
