His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed the latest regional and international developments, particularly those in the Middle East, during a meeting held at the Amiri Diwan Thursday. At the outset of the meeting, HH the Amir welcomed the Pakistani prime minister and the accompanying delegation, expressing his appreciation for Pakistan's role in supporting efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote diplomatic dialogue in the service of regional peace and security. 

 

The Pakistani leader reiterated his country's condemnation of the attacks targeting Qatar and other countries in the region, affirming Pakistan's full solidarity with Qatar and support for the measures it takes to protect its sovereignty and safeguard its security and stability. Both sides stressed the necessity of supporting the path of de-escalation and strengthening international coordination to ensure the security and stability of the region, especially maintaining the smooth flow of energy supply chains through vital maritime routes. 

 

They further discussed the co-operation between the two countries and ways to develop it, aiming to strengthen the partnership and open new horizons for bilateral co-operation. The meeting was attended by His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani and His Excellency Chief of the Amiri Diwan, Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Khulaifi along with a lineup of senior officials. 

 

On the Pakistani side, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar; Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar; Minister of State and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi as well as a number of other senior officials. 

 

HH the Amir and Sharif also held a bilateral meeting, where they exchanged views on current developments of mutual interest and emphasised the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two countries, particularly amidst current events and their repercussions on the region's security and stability. Following the talks, HH the Amir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of prime minister and his accompanying delegation. 

 

Sharif departed Doha Thursday after a working visit to the country. He and his accompanying delegation were seen off at Doha International Airport by Her Excellency Minister of State for International Co-operation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad, and Pakistan's ambassador Muhammad Aamer. Earlier upon his arrival, the Pakistan PM and his accompanying delegation were welcomed at Doha International Airport by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi and Ambassador Muhammad Amir.
