The State of Qatar stressed the importance of coordinated international efforts to eliminate the remnants of the former Syrian regime's chemical weapons program, praising the cooperation of the fraternal Syrian Arab Republic with the organization and international partners.
This came during the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the State of Qatar's representative for Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Dr. Mutlaq bin Majid Al Qahtani, in a briefing hosted by the Syrian Arab Republic at the organization's headquarters, on the objectives of the international "The Breath of Freedom” working group, to eliminate the remnants of the chemical weapons program of the former Syrian regime.
In his statement to the State of Qatar during the briefing, HE Dr. Mutlaq stressed the need for partners to contribute to building Syrian national capacities through technical, medical and operational support, in order to achieve sustainable progress towards a Syria free of chemical weapons.
Syria leads the international "The Breath of Freedom" working group, with support from Qatar, Canada, France, Germany, Turkiye, the United Kingdom and the United States.
