His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has honoured the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) with the “Rawda” Award for Excellence in Social Work in the Non-Profit Organisations category, in recognition of its “Wayyakum” platform.
The award was organised by the Ministry of Social Development and Family to promote community initiatives and foster innovation in the social sector.
QCS chairman Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Jabor al-Thani expressed his pride and appreciation for this recognition, noting that it reflects the QCS’s integrated institutional efforts and ongoing commitment to serving cancer patients, improving their quality of life and promoting awareness and community support.
He emphasised that this achievement serves as a strong motivation to further advance humanitarian initiatives and maximise their sustainable impact.
Sheikh Khalid highlighted that the award reinforces a spirit of positive competition among social institutions to deliver high-quality initiatives aligned with the QCS’s vision of “A cancer-aware community and a better life for those affected”, which stems from Qatar National Vision 2030, focusing on sustainable development and human capital investment.
The QCS’s “Weyakum” platform is a pioneering digital solution designed to support cancer patients’ treatment, enabling patients to apply for financial assistance and complete procedures electronically without the need for in-person visits, thereby streamlining processes and reducing the burden on patients.
The “Weyyakum” platform is integrated with the “Sanad” platform of the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities.
Sheikh Khalid added that in 2025, the QCS facilitated treatment for 1,789 patients who were unable to afford care, with total expenditures exceeding QR475mn.
