Qatar strongly condemned the Israeli occupation authorities’ commencement, with the participation of the Israeli minister of national security, of demolition operations inside the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) complex in occupied Jerusalem, considering it a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and a flagrant challenge to the international will.
In a statement yesterday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that Israel’s systematic targeting of the UNRWA ultimately aims to eliminate it and deprive millions of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon of its essential services, stressing the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities and firmly confront illegal Israeli measures to avoid their catastrophic consequences.
The ministry reiterated the Qatar’s full support for the UNRWA, based on its firm stance in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. – QNA
