The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF) on Sunday in Doha announced Saudi Arabia and Iraq will host the AGCFF U-15 and U-23 tournaments.

During its Ordinary General Assembly, the AGCFF said the dates of the two tournaments will be determined later after the file is referred to the competitions committee of the federation.

 

The meeting witnessed a discussion of several items, topics and proposals submitted by the member states, where the agenda was adopted and the financial and administrative report was reviewed. The meeting also touched on Saudi Arabia hosting the 27th edition of the Gulf Cup, which will be held from September 23 to October 6, 2026.

 

The Executive Office of the AGCFF stressed the need to exert more efforts to continue the successes that Gulf football has witnessed in recent years, as well as to develop the tournaments included in the Federation’s

agenda, especially at the level of age groups.

 

 

The AGCFF praised Qatar's successful hosting of the Gulf Cup Under-17 and Under-23 tournaments, noting that the organization was exceptional and left a positive impression on all the teams.

Jassim al-Rumaihi, Secretary General of AGCFF, confirmed during a press conference following the conclusion of the Ordinary General Assembly meeting that the most prominent decisions adopted were the approval for Iraq getting to organize the AGCFF U-23 in the city of Basra, as well as Saudi Arabia staging the AGCFF U-17.

 

 

Al-Rumaihi praised the efforts of all Gulf federations to develop competitions, as well as to work on hosting more tournaments, while also pointing to the possibility of teams from outside the Gulf region participating in the coming period.

 

He explained that the timing of the 27th edition of the Gulf Cup, which will take place from September 23 to October 6, 2026, was chosen because Saudi Arabia will be hosting the 2027 Asian Cup.

The inspection committee of the AGCFF will make several visits to Saudi Arabia in the next 10 months with the aim of following up on preparations, as is customary, to assess the readiness of the host country to host the next edition, as well as to monitor the readiness of the alternative country.
