In his remarks, HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Mohammed bin Hassan al-Malki reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to ethical and responsible international trade practices. HE al-Malki noted that this initiative represents a vital step toward improving the governance of the international diamond trade in light of current economic and geopolitical developments. He reiterated Qatar's support for measures aimed at promoting ethical practices, implementing clear standards, and reinforcing accountability across all stages of the value chain. Discussions also focused on adopting an expanded definition of conflict diamonds to strengthen regulatory frameworks, bolster consumer confidence, and ensure the protection of diamond-producing communities.
