The ‘National Development Forum: Social Development Pillar’ concluded on Sunday (November 16), bringing together ministers and senior officials, along with private sector leaders and representatives from civil society, who discussed the foundations of Qatar’s national progress.
The forum, under the patronage of HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and President of the National Planning Council, was held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre with the aim of strengthening structured and continued community dialogue.
The event also reaffirms Qatar’s commitment to building a cohesive, empowered, and prosperous society under the Third National Development Strategy (2024–2030).
HE Dr Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak al-Khalifa, secretary general of the National Planning Council, said in his speech: “Nearly two decades ago, the foundation of Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030 was laid. The Vision aims to transform Qatar into an advanced nation capable of achieving sustainable development, ensuring the wellbeing of its citizens, and enhancing their quality of life.
“QNV places family at the cornerstone of society and as the starting point of development across all fronts. It is evident how deeply the His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani prioritises family as the most essential building block of society and the foundation of its development.”
The Forum included a panel discussion that featured HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr al-Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family; HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, Minister of Culture; HE Mansoor bin Ebrahim bin Saad al-Mahmoud, Minister of Public Health; and HE Saad bin Ali al-Kharji, chairman of Qatar Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Visit Qatar.
The panel addressed key aspects of the Social Development pillar, from promoting family cohesion and safeguarding cultural identity to advancing inclusion, enhancing quality of life, and fostering cultural and social tourism as drivers of progress.
During the Forum, Their Excellencies emphasised that Qatar’s progress under the Third National Development Strategy is defined not only by economic growth but also by the strength of its social fabric. The dialogues highlighted the importance of expanding family-support and inclusion programmes, strengthening health and wellbeing outcomes, and fostering cultural participation as integral components of a balanced society.
The Forum further underscored how co-ordination among all ministries and institutions under the Third National Development Strategy ensures that every sector–education, health, culture, tourism, and social welfare–contributes collectively to strengthening social cohesion and consolidating the foundations of sustainable prosperity in Qatar.
The Forum forms part of a wider series of national development forums organised by the National Planning Council to strengthen the partnerships between the public, private, and non-profit sectors and foster open national dialogue on the priorities of the Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030).
These forums aim to align stakeholders across the Human, Economic, Social, and Environmental Development Pillars of QNV 2030, ensuring that every sector contributes to a future where sustainable growth and quality of life go hand in hand.
