Qatar's NAMA Center, an affiliate of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, has announced the launch of the country's first-ever Social Innovation Forum and Awards 2025, scheduled for Dec 2.
The forum will be held under the patronage of HE the Minister of Social Development and Family Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi.
The event aims to serve as a national platform for collaboration, bringing together social innovators, entrepreneurs, local and international experts, and policymakers. Organisers say the forum will foster an integrated ecosystem to support sustainable and innovative social development in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
The forum will also see the launch of the second edition of the Social Entrepreneurship Award, presented by NAMA Center. The award honours individuals and initiatives that have transformed ideas into impactful solutions addressing social challenges. Its three categories include Best Established Social Impact Project (QR 200,000), Best Social Entrepreneurship Idea (QR 100,000) and High School Projects (QR 60,000 split equally between male and female students).
Applications can be submitted through the center's official website nama.org.qa and its social media platforms.
Speaking at a press conference, NAMA Executive Director Ghanem Salah Al Ali described the forum as a turning point in the evolution of Qatar's social sector.
"The forum is a national platform designed to transform ideas into actionable initiatives and strengthen community partnerships. It will play a crucial role in building a modern, inclusive, and sustainable social sector that aligns with our national development goals," he said.
NAMA's Director of Communications and Media, Nayef Zamel Al Shahrani, stressed the importance of empowering social innovators through this initiative.
"This forum will open new horizons for innovators and social entrepreneurs. Our partners and sponsors are not just contributors — they are true believers in the shared responsibility of social innovation. Investing in people is the most certain path to a stronger and better future," he noted.
Organisers emphasised that the event marks a qualitative leap in the development of Qatar's social work environment, by expanding the impact of social initiatives through enhanced cooperation between government entities, the private sector, academia, and civil society.
